THE CAVE CHRONICLE
This tour explores the history and folklore surrounding the cavern from the earliest inhabitants that used the cave around 8000 BC through the agricultural societies of the Algonkian and Iroqouis tribes that used the cave as an adjunct to the outlaws who used the caverns as a hideout and the early settlers of Spruce Creek valley who explore the cave's depths, including the history of the cave as a roadside attraction. The Cave Chronicle encompasses many of the political and military events that affected the local area and how both Native Americans and caves figured in some of the formative events of central Pennsylvania's rich history.

NEW FOR 2008

THE NATIVE AMERICAN TOUR
This tour will offer a compelling introduction to the tribes that used the cavern (primarily the Lenni Lenape and those brought together under the Iroquois Confederacy) – their culture, their social structures, and their fate. The Native American Tour will also explore the complex and changing relations of the American Indians and the European settlers in the northeastern states and how the fusion of their contrasting views helped give rise to the uniquely “American” character.

THE SPIRIT TOUR
Caves have been the repository of mystic and metaphysical beliefs and practices since the Neolithic Age. The Spirit Tour will offer a comparative view of how caverns have been utilized and analogized throughout history, exploring the major religious traditions from Shamanism through the New Age – everything from Hindu lingam stones to the seven caves of the Bible. The Spirit Tour also includes an introduction to the mythology of  the Algonkian and Iroquois peoples.
